Seoul—South Korea hopes to be included on the list of countries exempt from US sanctions against Iran, with an announcement possible as soon as this week, a senior South Korean foreign ministry official said May 30. South Korea has been in talks with Washington to secure a waiver from US sanctions that prevent any financial institution dealing with Iran’s central bank from having access to the US financial system.
