US grants fuel waivers after Hurricane Isaac

Washington—Eight states affected by Hurricane Isaac can sell gasoline exceeding summer air quality standards under an emergency waiver, the Environmental Protection Agency said September 5. EPA waived the 7.8-psi Reid Vapor Pressure limit for Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. The exemption lasts through September 15, when the summertime cap would have otherwise expired.
