PTTEP takes 90% control of Cove Energy

Sydney—Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production has succeeded with its GBP1.22 billion ($1.91 billion) takeover offer for Cove Energy, having achieved more than 90% control of the East Africa-focused explorer, the company said in a statement August 1. PTTEP President and CEO Tevin Vongvanich said that at 1:00 pm London time (1200 GMT) on July 31 , the company’s wholly owned subsidiary PTTEP Africa Investment Limited had received acceptances for 91.37% of Cove’s issued share capital. Earlier, PTTEP had extended its offer for Cove for the fourth time to July 31.
