Shanghai to get 6 Bcm ofgas in 2012, 11% increase

Singapore—The Chinese city of Shanghai isexpected to receive more than 6 billion cubicmeters (579,000 Mcf/d) of natural gas supplyin 2012, an increase of 10.7% year on year,state-owned China National Petroleum Corpo-ration said on its website March 7.The increase is largely due to higher vol-umes from the second West-East pipeline,which is part of the Central Asia-China gaspipeline network that transmits gas from Turk-menistan to China. Gas deliveries started in late2009 through a 1,911 km pipeline that runsthrough Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, and entersChina in the northwestern Xinjiang province.
