US gas storage surplus grows on 82 Bcf withdrawal

Knoxville, Tennessee—The US natural gas stor-age overhang got a little larger last week onan 82 Bcf withdrawal that defied most expec-tations and came in well below the five-yearaverage, the Energy Information Administra-tion reported March 1.Stocks were 2.513 Tcf as of February 24with just over a month left to go in the tradi-tional withdrawal season. The 82 Bcf pull lastweek was below consensus expectations ofa 90 to 94 Bcf withdrawal and compared withthe 85 Bcf reported last year and the 118 Bcffive-year average.
