US rig count falls by 3

Houston—The US rig count was 1,983 for the week ended May 25, down by 3 from the prior week, according to Baker Hughes. The latest count includes 1,935 land and 48 offshore, with 594 assigned to gas, 1,383 to oil and 6 to miscellaneous drilling. The rigs were drilling 570 vertical, 222 directional and 1,191 horizontal wells.
