EIA sees modest growth in Us oil demand

Washington-The US Energy Information Admin- istration on February 7 lowered its forecast for global oil demand in 2012 and said US con- sumption will grow modestly in 2012 and 2013. The EIA, the statistical arm of the Depart- ment of Energy, dropped global demand fore- casts for 2012 to 89.25 million b/d, down 130,000 b/d from a month earlier. The revi- sion puts year-over-year oil demand growth in 2012 at 1.32 million b/d. Growth in global oil consumption is expected to accelerate over the next two years, EIA said, with consump- tion reaching 90.7 million b/d in 2013.
