World Bank cuts economic growth forecasts

London-The World Bank January 18 slashed its global economic growth forecasts and warned that the world "could be thrown into a recession as large or even larger than that of 2008-2009." In its latest Global Economic Prospects report, the bank said it now sees the global economy growing by just 2.5% this year and 3.1% in 2013, sharply down from its previous forecast of 3.6% for both years.
