South Korea, Japan partners to build UAE power plant

Seoul-South Korea's state-run power monopoly Korea Electric Power Corporation February 16 said its consortium with Japan's Sumitomo Corporation had signed a $1.43 billion deal to build a gas-fired power plant in the United Arab Emirates. Under the contract with the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority, the power station is to be built in Shuweihat, a city 260 km (161 miles) west of the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi, Kepco said in a statement.
