US product deliveries off 1.2% in 2011: API

Washington-Total US petroleum deliveries in 2011 declined from the previous year even as struggling refiners boosted production of gaso- line and other products for export, the Ameri- can Petroleum Institute reported January 20. The sluggish US economy showed some glimmers of recovery, especially in the manu- facturing sector, but overall consumer spend- ing remained weak. Still, domestic crude oil production grew and production of finished products also rose resulting in ample supply, the API said.
