Tokyo-Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has begun weighing options to expand oil product stocks in the country's national strategic reserves, a ministry source said September 6. METI's move comes as it tries to become better prepared for disasters, after taking lessons from the severe oil supply disruptions following the devastating March 11 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan, the source said.
