KazMunaiGaz makes large discovery at Kazakh block

Moscow-Kazakhstan's state-owned KazMunaiGaz said May 19 it has made an oil and gas discovery at the onshore Urikhtau block in the country's Aktobe region, the first major field discovery in Kazakhstan by a Kazakh company operating alone. Preliminary estimates show hydrocarbon resources at the block of more than 200 million mt (1.46 billion barrels) of oil equivalent, KazMunaiGaz said.
