Valero Energy to buy 23% of SPR crude sale

Washington-Valero Energy stands to take nearly a quarter of the 30.64 million barrels of crude to be sold from the US emergency oil stockpile, according to a list of "apparently successful" bids released July 1 by the Department of Energy. Total successful bids were valued at $3.28 billion. Valero, the largest US refiner, submitted $742.9 million in winning bids for 6.9 million barrels of the light sweet crude socked away in salt caverns in Texas and Louisiana.
