Australian Linc to study UK in-ground coal gasification

Sydney-Linc Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with UK Coal Mining to study the suitability of using underground coal gasification to tap the UK's massive stranded coal resources, the Australian company said October 20. UK Coal Mining is among the UK's largest landowners and coal producers, Linc said. Plans are to assess using Linc's UCG technology at three UK Coal sites in Warwickshire, Yorkshire and Leicestershire.
