Lagos-Nigeria's main militant group, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, said June 6 it would target oil facilities owned by Italy's Eni in the West African country over the "involvement" of the company in Libya. In an e-mailed statement signed by Jomo Gbomo, the pseudonym used by MEND to claim responsibility for its actions, the group said the attack on Eni's facilities would signal the resumption of violence campaign against Nigeria's oil industry and government troops in the Niger Delta.
