KazMunaiGaz takes 10% in Karachaganak

Moscow—Kazakhstan’s state-owned KazMunaiGaz is to take a 10% stake in the Karachaganak gas and condensate field according to an agreement signed December 14, paving the way for the BG Group and Eni-led international consortium to move forward with the expansion of the project. The Kazakh government signed the deal with the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO) consortium on the transfer of a 10% stake in KPO to KazMunaiGaz for a total effective net consideration of $1 billion.
