Houston-Marathon Oil's divorce from Marathon Petroleum late last week brought out the Wall Street bulls in force July 1, who not only lauded both entities as stronger post-split but estimated stronger individual valuations than the integrated company had enjoyed. Even so, Marathon Oil, the upstream stand-alone entity, became one of the "most undervalued large E&P companies" after the June 30 separation, according to Oppen-heimer analyst Fadel Gheit.
