Green groups ask for injunction to stop Keystone XL

Washington-Environmental groups opposed to the Keystone XL pipeline sued the US government October 5 to halt TransCanada's preparations for building the increasingly controversial project. The Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) and others accused TransCanada of relocating endangered beetles and clearing prairie grass critical to migrating whooping cranes before environmental laws allow them to do so. They said US regulators approved the activities in violation of the National Environmental Protection Act.
