Cairn india claims first gas strike off Sri Lanka

Mumbai-Cairn India said October 2 that it had found gas in block SL 2007-01-001 in Sri Lanka's Mannar Basin, the first well to be drilled in the country in 30 years and the first to find hydrocarbons. Further drilling is required to establish the commercial viability of the discovery, the company said.
