Western Australia to keep gas requirement

Sydney—The state of Western Australia,home to a burgeoning LNG export industry,has decided to retain its 15% domestic gasreservation requirement for all projects, Pre-mier Colin Barnett said late August 9. The decision was unveiled as Barnett putforward the state government’s formal responseto the recommendations of the Economicsand Industry Standing Committee’s Inquiry intoDomestic Gas Prices. The government alsoplans to implement measures to improve trans-parency in the state’s gas market and developmore reliable demand and supply forecasts.
