London—The head of the planned 750,000 b/d trans-Balkan AMBO oil pipeline December 8 highlighted the advantages of the project over the now defunct 700,000 b/d Burgas- Alexandroupolis oil pipeline project, which was dumped December 7 by the Bulgarian government because of economic and environmental concerns. AMBO President and CEO Ted Ferguson told Platts it was not yet clear exactly why Sofia dropped out of Burgas-Alexandroupolis, but the two projects were different for a number of reasons.
