South Korea hikes gas price as LNG import costs rise

Seoul-South Korea raised domestic natural gas prices by 4.8% from May 1-the country's second such increase since it restored its cost-based pricing mechanism last Septem-ber-to reflect higher LNG import costs, the energy ministry said May 2. The gas price for households was raised by 4.9%, for office buildings by 2.1%, and for industry by 8.7%, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said.
