Washington-Canada's top diplomat in Washington said September 9 he remains optimistic the US will approve TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline. But if the $7 billion project gets blocked, Alberta would find plenty of buyers in China and elsewhere for crude from its vast oil sands, Ambassador Gary Doer said. "We're obviously a country that has ports on all three oceans," Doer said in an interview with Platts Energy Week. "We can sell it other places. But do we want to continue to be a reliable supplier of oil to the United States? Yes."
