Meade is named to Mexico's top energy post

Mexico City-The appointment of Jose Antonio Meade as Mexico's energy secretary has caused some bewilderment in the industry. Meade was appointed late January 8 to replace Georgina Kessel, who had held the post of energy secretary since the administra- tion of President Felipe Calderon began in December 2006. Kessel was the longest-serv- ing secretary since the ministry was spun off from Industry in 1994.
