Russia's Transneft starts up key oil pipeline

Moscow-Russian national oil pipeline opera tor Transneft October 25 opened the 500,00 b/d Purpe-Samotlor pipeline, shortening the route for crude from Vankor, the biggest producing East Siberian oil field, to the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline. The 430 km, $1.6 billion Purpe-Samotlor link also lets other new fields in northern parts of East Siberia's Krasnoyarsk region and West Siberia's Yamal-Nenets Autonomous regions reach Russian refineries and international markets.
