摘要

Sydney-Thailand's PTTEP has applied to drill two gas appraisal wells in the Timor Sea off northwestern Australia, less than two weeks after being allowed to continue exploring in the country only under a strict 18-month monitoring program. PTTEP Australasia, a subsidiary of Thailand's state-controlled upstream company PTT Exploration and Production, presided over Australia's worst-ever oil spill, at the nearby Montara oil project in 2009. The Montara Commission of Inquiry, the findings of which were released last November, found the company's "widespread and systematic shortcomings" caused the spill.
