OPEC slashes outlook for world oil demand

London-OPEC September 12 cut its estimates of global oil consumption in 2011 and 2012 on the back of the slowing economic recovery, noting signs of demand falling not only in the OECD but also in China and India. In its latest monthly oil market report, OPEC said uncertainties in the oil market were increasing at a time when the recovery of the global economy was losing momentum, as the group slashed its forecasts of demand for crude produced by its own member countries in the rest of 2011 and 2012.
