GS Caltex to build fourth heavy oil upgrader at Yeosu

Seoul-GS Caltex, South Korea's second- largest oil refiner, January 4 announced plans to build a fourth heavy oil upgrading facility at its Yeosu refining complex at a cost of Won 1.1 trillion ($980 million) in an effort to meet growing demand for lighter, cleaner-burning fuels. The facility includes a 29,000 b/d vacuum gasoil fluid catalytic cracking unit and a 24,000 b/d gasoline hydrodesulfurization and alkylation unit. Construction will begin in March and will be completed in 2013, it said.
