S&P, Dow Jones in agreement to merge index businesses

London-The S&P GSCI and the DJ-UBSCI, key indexes composed of futures contracts on physical commodities, are not expected to be impacted by an agreement for a joint venture between S&P Indices and Dow Jones Indexes, a senior Standard & Poor's official said November 4. "It is not expected to have any impact," said Michel McGlone, S&P's commodity indexing senior director. "The two contracts are much less similar than people think...they are used by different types of investors."
