Anadarko volumes hit record, but profits tumble in Q1

Houston-Anadarko Petroleum's drive to increase its exposure to oil and liquids production led to record sales volumes in the first quarter even as overall profits dropped due to hedging losses. The Woodlands, Texas-based company reported May 2 that its sales volumes averaged 690,000 b/d of oil equivalent, a slight increase over the 686,000 boe/d produced in the same period of 2010. The figure includes 212,000 b/d of oil and 76,000 b/d of natura gas liquids, compared with 222,000 b/d and 65,000 b/d, respectively, a year earlier.
