Japan PAJ urges government to weigh refinery closures

Tokyo-The Japanese government must care- fully weigh the future of the country's oil industry, particularly the implications of lettin the market make critical decisions, such as on refinery closures, which may affect energy security, Petroleum Association of Japan Pres dent Akihiko Tembo said January 5. In his address at the PAJ's new year reception, Tembo said decisions by the indus try on refining capacity reductions are immi- nent but he expressed concerns that such decisions should not be made by the private sector alone.
