Marathon sets 2011 capex, 71% to upstream

Houston-With all eyes focused on the June 30 spinoff of its refining business, Marathon Oil unveiled plans February 2 to boost capital spending by 9% to $5.267 billion this year with 71% directed to the upstream and $1 billion of that allocated for liquids-rich US onshore shale plays in the Bakken, Eagle Ford and Anadarko Woodford areas.
