Indian crude runs jump as Essar’s refinery restarts

Mumbai—India’s public and private-sector refiners processed around 14.42 million mt of crude oil or an average of 3.5 million b/d in November, up 9.2% from October and up 11.2% year on year, according to preliminary data released December 22 by the oil ministry. The average utilization rate of Indian refineries rose to 109.4% in November from 103% in October and 101.6% in November last year. The month-on-month increase in crude throughput was mainly due to Essar Oil coming back to full production in November after completing a 35-day planned shutdown October 24 at its Vadinar refinery in the western state of Gujarat.
