Brazil's Congress delays vote on split of oil royalties

Sao Paulo-Leaders of Brazil's Senate and Chamber of Deputies decided late October 4 to delay a vote on a controversial petroleum royalties issue until October 26. The vote, which was due to be held October 5, would seek to overturn former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's veto of an amendment that would have resulted in a more equal distribution of petroleum royalties between oil producing and nonproducing states. Lula vetoed the bill in December 2010.
