Caspian oil pipeline group CPC starts expansion work

Moscow-The Caspian Pipeline Consortium June 30 officially launched its $5.4 billion project to double the capacity of the oil route from Kazakhstan to the Russian port of Nov-orossiisk on the Black Sea to 67 million mt/ year (1.34 million b/d) by 2014. An official ceremony to inaugurate the expansion startup was held in Atyrau, Kazakhstan, and was attended by a number of top Kazakh and Russian officials, including Kazakh oil minister Sauat Mynbayev and Russia's energy minister Sergei Shmatko.
