Calgary-Canada's North West Upgrading is weighing options to fast-track its planned 150,000 b/d bitumen-to-diesel hydro-processing and coke gasification plant, to be built near Edmonton, Alberta. A final investment decision is expected by early 2012, a senior company official said. "By early 2012, we are aiming to adopt an FID," Jerry Crail, NWU vice president of engineering and construction, said in a phone interview late November 10. "We are now in the process of taking a financial proposal to our board of directors for approval. A detailed financial plan is already in place and private investors and financial institutions have pledged funding."
