Japan buys Angola’s Cabinda crude after 17-year gap

Tokyo—At least one Japanese refiner hasrecently bought a partial cargo of AngolanCabinda crude from Karimun in Indonesia ona FOB basis, with the cargo to be delivered toJapan within this month, sources familiar withthe matter told Platts July 15. This would be Japan’s first import of thelow sulfur Angolan crude since it last boughtsome 446,000 barrels in September 1994,according to data compiled by the Ministry ofEconomy, Trade and Industry.
