Mumbai-GAIL, India's state-owned gas utility and a virtual monopoly, January 18 reported a net profit of Rupees 9.68 billion ($210 million) for the October-December quarter, up 12.6% from Rupees 8.6 billion in the year-ago period, boosted by its natural gas transmission and gas trading businesses.
