Sao Paulo—A federal prosecutor in Rio de Janeiro state said December 15 that Chevron and Transocean could be forced to suspend activities in Brazil within days. Prosecutors at the Federal Public Ministry in Campos, Rio de Janeiro state, have moved an action against both companies with an indemnity of 20 billion reals ($10.75 billion), including an injunction requiring that both companies suspend all exploration and production activities (ON 12/15).
