Houston-Big E&P company Anadarko Petroleum has turned in a "number" of applications for drilling permits in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico and is waiting for US regulators to approve its emergency response plans, top company officials said February 1. Anadarko is one of 19 companies that signed up to use Helix Energy Solutions Group's HFRS system as its oil spill containment plan in the event of a spill, Charles Meloy, company senior vice president of worldwide operations, said during a quarterly earnings conference call.
