Restarted TAPS throughput hits 510,000 b/d

Anchorage-The restart of the Trans Alaska Pipeline System is proceeding smoothly and the system is expected to reach normal throughput soon, an Alyeska Pipeline Service Company spokeswoman said January 18. TAPS is currently operating at about 510,000 b/d, Alyeska spokeswoman Stephanie Bell said. Prior to discovery of a pump station pipeline leak and shutdown on January 9, the pipeline was moving about 630,000 b/d.
