London-Brazilian companies have been facing issues obtaining export licenses for industrial ethanol amid a shortage of the bio- fuel ahead of the official cane harvest season starting April 1, sources said. The shortage of ethanol in Brazil, the sec- ond-largest producer of the fuel after the US, came as high sugar prices encouraged mills to produce sweeteners rather than biofuels in the last months of the 2010-11 marketing year.
