UK’s Tullow closes Ugandan asset purchase

London-UK-based Tullow Oil has finally completed its $1.35 billion acquisition of a 50% interest in blocks 1 and 3A in Uganda from Canada’s Heritage Oil despite an unresolved tax dispute between Heritage and the Ugandan government, Tullow said July 27. Tullow said the long-awaited completion of the deal-first agreed in January this year- would allow the accelerated development of the Albert Rift Basin and turn Uganda into a “significant oil producing nation.”
