GDF Suez in deal to supply LNG to CNOOC unit

Singapore-France’s GDF Suez has signed an agreement with China’s CNOOC Gas and Power to supply 2.6 million mt of LNG over four years from 2013, GDF Suez said in a statement October 9. GDF Suez said the cargoes would be sourced from its own LNG portfolio. “After a first LNG cargo delivered to Shanghai last August, this new contract strengthens GDF Suez’s long-term commitment in China, and is a major step in the development of our presence in the energy business in the country,” said Gerard Mestrallet, chairman of GDF Suez. “This new contract will contribute to energy saving, emissions reduction and the development of [the] low-carbon economy of China,” said Wang Jiaxiang, president of CNOOC Gas and Power.
