Washington-The US Export-Import Bank is the first export credit agency to implement a policy to measure and address the climate change impacts of its transactions supporting energy projects, following the approval last week of an implementation plan by the bank's board.The policy was developed to settle a lawsuit challenging the bank's failure to take greenhouse gas emissions into account when it financed, in part, $32 billion in overseas projects between 1990 and 2003, which allegedly produced carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to 7% of global emissions in 2003.
