Developer of Oregon LNG project files for liquidation

Washington-Burdened by $129.5 million in debt, NorthernStar Natural Gas of Houston has filed for Chapter 7 liquidation and abandoned plans to build the Bradwood Landing LNG terminal in Oregon. The company said in a voluntary filing May 4 its assets are worth $165,900. Among the debts, it owes the Bank of New York Mellon $108 million for exchange notes and $20.9 million for senior convertible notes, all purchased in May 2009, according to documents signed by NorthernStar President Paul Soanes.
