KNPC shuts down Shuaiba refinery on technical failure

Dubai—Kuwait National Petroleum Company has shut down all units at its 200,000 b/d Shuaiba refinery due to a technical failure, official news agency KUNA reported March 24. KUNA quoted KNPC spokesman Sheikh Talal Khaled al-Sabah as saying the shutdown was due to a “sudden fault” in the steam generating system at the refinery, the oldest in the OPEC member state.
