New naphtha cracking units start up in India, Singapore

Singapore-Two new petrochemical complexes have started up in Asia, and are expected to reach stable operations next month, local company spokesmen said February 26.At Panipat in the northern Indian state of Haryana, Indian Oil Corporation has started up its naphtha-fed steam cracker which has capacity to produce 800,000 mt/year of ethyl-ene and 650,000 mt/year of propylene. Startup activity at the steam cracker began in the first half of February and it is expected to achieve stable production by the middle of March, an IOC spokesman said.
