Asia piracy attacks on tankers doubled in H1: ReCAAP

Singapore-Pirate attacks on tankers in Asia have jumped by a whopping 127% in the first half of this year compared with the same period last year, according to figures released over the weekend by regional piracy watchdog ReCAAP in its 2010 half-yearly report. Tankers took most of the hits from sea bandits, but there has been a 65% increase in the overall number of piracy-related incidents during the first half of this year compared with the same period of 2009.
