Total idles French refineries as national strike hits

London-France’s Total said September 7 it was forced to operate its five French refineries at minimum rates due to nationwide strikes in protest over government plans to overhaul pensions. Strike action at Total’s La Mede, Donges, Gonfreville and Grandpuits refineries also halted fuel deliveries from the sites while fuel is continuing to be delivered from its Feyzin plant, a company spokesman said.
